Going into this project I laid out three main goals for myself, all of which I think I was able to achieve one way or another. My first goal was to learn basic HTML and CSS in order to create a website to put our game reviews on. We realized pretty quickly that it was unrealistic to try and make an entire website from scratch without having any prior coding experience, so we decided to use Wix to help us make a website. However, we still wanted to learn some coding so we continued learning from various YouTube videos. We were still able to apply this to our website and customize it further, it just wasn’t used to make the entire website like we had planned. My second goal was to learn more about website creation and design which I also feel like I achieved. We wrote a lot of reviews and had to analyze a lot of games that were all very different. This made me analyze games not just by how much I enjoyed pl...

Week 3

This week we spent most of the time working on getting our website up and running. This involved designing it both aesthetically and content-wise, as well as writing blog posts. I think our website looks pretty good so far and I’m excited that we're finally able to get it live. I learned a lot more about website design this week, including how to combine fonts, color schemes, and animation      My goals from week one  were to 1) learn basic HTML and CSS to create a website, 2) learn more about game design and creation while focusing on accessibility, and 3) form connections with our peers. For my first goal, I think that we’ve done a good job with the time we’ve had and I feel like I do have a basic grasp of HTML. However, we realized that it was pretty unrealistic to make our own website from scratch in just four weeks with no prior experience so we decided to use Wix to help us make our site. This has really helped us make some more progress wit...

This week we’ve continued learning the basics of coding and trying to get our website live. We’ve found that it takes a lot more time than we anticipated, so hopefully our website will be live by the beginning of next week. This week we were looking specifically at designing our website and figuring out how we want it formatted. We also figured out all of the content for our website, at least the initial launch of it, meaning we’ve written out descriptions of our project, who we are, and started writing a couple game reviews.           Most of our time this week was spent working on our website and making our very basic template from last week into a workable website rather than playing games, however we did play a couple games. One of my favorite moments was playing Raft with a few of our friends. The game is a multiplayer survival game set in a post-apocalyptic world. The players are stranded on a raft and forced to survive off ...

Week 1

For my senior project I am working with Sophia Spry to create a website where we review video games. The goal of this website is to make the gaming community more inclusive and accessible to everyone, highlighting the virtual connections that can be formed through gaming. We chose this particular project because the pandemic has forced us to connect with others online more, and we found video games were a great way to do this. However, while we had experience gaming a lot of our friends did not so it was harder for them to stay connected during this time. We want our website to help bring more people into gaming and form a more inclusive community online.      My goals for this project are to 1) learn basic HTML and CSS to create a website, 2) learn more about game design and creation while focusing on accessibility, and 3) form connections with our peers.      So far in the project we have been learning the basics of coding using HTML a...
