This week we’ve continued learning the basics of coding and trying to get our website live. We’ve found that it takes a lot more time than we anticipated, so hopefully our website will be live by the beginning of next week. This week we were looking specifically at designing our website and figuring out how we want it formatted. We also figured out all of the content for our website, at least the initial launch of it, meaning we’ve written out descriptions of our project, who we are, and started writing a couple game reviews.

Most of our time this week was spent working on our website and making our very basic template from last week into a workable website rather than playing games, however we did play a couple games. One of my favorite moments was playing Raft with a few of our friends. The game is a multiplayer survival game set in a post-apocalyptic world. The players are stranded on a raft and forced to survive off of resources found in the sea or on small islands. The game has a detailed story line that we didn’t make it very far into, but I had a lot of fun just messing around and building our raft. It was super funny trying to survive and not leave anyone behind.

I think I made a lot of progress towards my goals for our project this week. I definitely have a better grasp of HTML the more we’ve built up our website and am beginning to feel more confident with it. Also, as highlighted by our playthrough of Raft, I think I’ve been continuing to make connections through video games. Next week I’ll focus more on my last goal of learning more about game design and creation once we get our website up and start focusing more on playing games and reviewing them.

Since I accidentally had the wrong blog link up last week I don’t have many comments to respond to, but please feel free to leave a comment this week with any game recommendations or questions!

  2. Riley, this sounds like a good challenge, learning how to create a website, along with lots of fun trying out different games with friends! Good luck getting your website up and running! Wendy
